Complete Auto Repair · Harlem Ave, Morton Grove · Since 2004
Six hundred and ten people have reviewed us on Google. Six hundred and one of them gave us five stars. Family-owned, ASE-certified, doors open at 7:30 — drop it before work.
Not sure what’s wrong? Say what it’s doing and when it does it. That’s enough to start.
Doors open at 7:30, six days a week. Drop it on your way to work. We can usually get you in on short notice — call ahead and we’ll tell you when the lift is free.
What happens when you pull in
You have probably been handed a bill with a line on it you did not understand, or been told a repair was urgent by someone who had already taken the wheel off. That is a fair thing to be wary of. Here is how a job runs here instead, from the minute the car comes off the street to the minute you drive it away.
The car gets evaluated before anything gets quoted — including the things you didn’t come in for.
“They evaluate your vehicle as if it was their own.” — Ann Ivanov, Google, 9 months agoAll of them, in plain language, before a wrench moves. You decide what gets done today and what waits.
“They explained all my options and got me back in my vehicle quicker than I thought and at a fair price.” — Ann Ivanov, GoogleOld part beside new part, photographed. It’s most of what we post — filters, alternators, hubs, differentials.
Ask, and we’ll bring the old part out to the counter.Sometimes that means the job grows. Rusted brake lines, bad lug nuts, a filter that was never the right size to begin with.
“Turns out I need more than brake change my lug nuts were bad my brake lines was rusted. They replaced all the bad parts.” — Lee Leon, Google, 3 months agoThe reason people drive past three other shops
A Jeep Wrangler came in with a check engine light, low oil pressure and a noise. Its owner had been paying someone else for oil changes every three to five thousand miles. This is what came out of it.
Michael posted this photo and asked the question a mechanic asks: given that the filter is the wrong size, aged and shrunk — what mileage is really on it?
Services
Fifty-nine customers already told you. Every line below carries the number of people who named that job in their Google review of us — a list our customers wrote, not one we did.
Our most-named job by a distance. Pads, rotors, lines, hardware.
Diagnosis and repair of the faults that fail a test, then back for the re-test.
With the correct filter for the engine — the right part number, every time.
Called out separately by nineteen people, which tells you how often it’s the front axle.
Cleaning and replacement — usually the thing standing between you and a passed emissions test.
Replaced during service, not sold as a surprise at the counter.
Checked and shown to you. Same principle as the oil filter.
Fluid and filter service; valve-body work when the fluid tells a worse story.
Charging-system test first — sometimes it’s the alternator, not the battery.
A common check-engine cause and a common emissions failure.
Also handled: alternators · starters · water pumps · wheel hubs and bearings · differentials · struts and suspension · valve cover gaskets · thermostats · tires.

The case files
This is how we explain a repair. The piece that failed, sitting next to the piece that replaced it — on the bench, on the concrete, in daylight. No diagram, no sales sheet. The part.

Just north of Church Street — two glass bays, red lettering on the window, cars out front. Harlem runs straight down the village line, so most of the cars in our lot come down from Niles and Park Ridge or across from Skokie and Lincolnwood; from Edison Park or Norridge it’s a straight run up Harlem. If the lot looks busy, that is normal — call ahead and we’ll tell you when to come.
Call for a quote. We look at the car first, explain your options, and give you the price before any work starts.

9021 Harlem Ave, Morton Grove, IL 60053, on the west side of Harlem just north of Church Street. Look for the two glass service bays and the red Complete Auto Repair lettering on the window. Phone (312) 307-1428.
A lot of people feel that walking in means losing the afternoon. Most have found that one call is all it takes — a twenty-year customer put it as “it’s easy to get an appointment on short notice.” Either works. Calling first just means we can tell you when a bay is open.
It sounds like you have a test due and a light on the dash. Emissions work is the second most-mentioned job in our reviews — forty-eight customers have named it. We diagnose and repair the faults that cause a failure, most often oxygen sensors and catalytic converters, and then you go back for the re-test.
Domestic, Japanese and European. Recent work includes Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, Ford Edge, Volkswagen Passat, Toyota, Chevrolet and Mercedes-Benz — including older Mercedes, which is why there are usually a couple parked out front.
Yes. Look at the case files above — filters, alternators, hubs, differentials and transmission pans, each one photographed next to the part that replaced it. Ask and we’ll bring yours out to the counter.
It sounds like you have been quoted a number before that grew by the time you picked the car up. Would it be unreasonable to call and find out what this one actually costs? We look at the vehicle, explain your options, and give you the price before any work starts — what it costs depends on the car and on what it genuinely needs, so we would rather quote you than guess. Call (312) 307-1428.
Twenty-two years, family owned and operated, on the same block of Harlem Avenue. Several customers have been bringing cars here for twenty and twenty-five years.
Yes to cards, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.
Doors open at 7:30, six days a week, at 9021 Harlem Ave in Morton Grove. You’ll leave knowing what was wrong, what we did about it, and what can wait. Would it be unreasonable to have it looked at before it gets worse?
